Job Title: Quality Assurance Manager/ Lab. Technician

Manager City: Kampala, Uganda

Operations Job Status: Full-Time/Exempt

SR Afro Chicks & Poultry Breeders Limited is a private entity incorporated in Uganda since 2014. Since its establishment, it has evolved into a vertically integrated poultry producer. With its high expansion rate, SR Afro Chicks &Poultry Breeders has five mutually dependent business divisions; - Feed Mill, - Parent Stock (broilers and laying hens) Farm, - Hatchery, and Broiler Farm - Processing Plant. The Parent Stock farm produces hatching eggs for the hatchery, which in turn are used to produce quality day-old-chicks.

SR Afro Chicks & Breeders is looking for a highly qualified Lab. Technician/ Quality Assurance Manager (QA) to oversee the activity of the quality assurance department and staff, develop, implement, and maintain a system of quality and reliability testing for the company products and/or development processes.

Job Summary:

The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager will oversee the activity of the quality assurance department and staff, developing, implementing, and maintaining a system of quality and reliability testing for the company products and/or development processes.

Supervisory Responsibilities: A qualifying candidate will:

· Hire and train quality assurance staff.

· Oversee the daily workflow and schedules of the department.

· Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.

· Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

· Develop, implement, and manage processes to ensure that products meet required specifications for quality, function, and reliability prior to delivery.

· Identify and set appropriate quality standards and parameters for products.

· Communicate quality standards and parameters to QA team, product development team, and other appropriate staff.

· Coordinate product testing processes.

· Identify and analyze issues, bugs, defects, and other problems, particularly when problems recur in multiple products; recommend and facilitate solutions to these issues.

· Review client, customer, and user feedback.

· Maintain compliance with state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and policies.

· Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Education and Experience:

• BS Degree (preferably Food Science, Meat/Poultry Science, Chemistry or related field)

• Minimum 5 years Quality Management Experience, experience in the feed manufacturing preferred.

• Must be detailed oriented, have strong mathematical and analytical aptitude.

• Must have the ability to make sound judgment and good decisions regarding quality and wholesomeness of product.

• Able to prioritize/adjust quickly to changing work environment with minimal supervision to meet changing plant needs.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Remuneration:

An attractive entry level will vary depending on the skills and experience possessed.

As a fast growing poultry producing company, we are looking for a Chicken Slaughter Process Control Manager who is; “Owner in the company,” 'Partner-owned', People-driven, innovative, growth oriented and result oriented candidate for the position above.
General Work Duties:

•Manage slaughterhouse operations at a fully-automated processing facility
• Implement and control the production schedule. Review and adjust the schedule as required
• Determine the human and material resources required
• Participate in live birds planning with Farming Unit Department
• Work out and implement standard operating procedures for production operations
• Ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures
• Implement and enforce quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives
• Analyze production and quality control to detect and correct problems
• Monitor and review the performance of staff and organize necessary interventions for improvement
• Ensure efficient collaboration and co-ordination between relevant departments including procurement, distribution and management
• Manage and oversee production and inspection operations of poultry slaughterhouse to ensure continuous supply of safe and wholesome chicken products for consumers.
• Follow up processes and stages of production with the application of food safety rules, HACCP and good housekeeping.
• Plan and monitor the sales administration and logistic operations team to ensure smooth processing of sales orders and chicken products delivery.
• Work closely with Farm Managers and Sales team on chicken products inventory and quality issues.
• Organize and monitor waste management.

Education and Experience;

· A Masters’ degree in Veterinary Science or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience

· Must have experience & references of installing, commissioning and running a Chicken Slaughter Houses with at least 6000 BPH or more capacity.

· 5 years of experience

· Experience or coursework in food science, quality management, or other sciences

· Completion of H-E-B certification as an ASQ Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA)

· Critical thinking skills

· Verbal / written communication and presentation skills

· PC skills, including MS Office
