SR Afro Chicks & Poultry Breeders Limited is a private entity incorporated in Uganda since 2014. Since its establishment, it has evolved into a vertically integrated poultry producer and breeder. With its high expansion rate, SR Afro Chicks &Poultry Breeders has five mutually dependent business divisions; - Feed Mill, - Parent Stock (broilers and laying hens) Farm, - Hatchery, and Broiler Farm - Processing Plant. The Parent Stock farm produces hatching eggs for the hatchery, which in turn are used to produce quality day-old-chicks.
Commercial Poultry Feed:
We have a mash feed mill of capacity 20 tons/hour and a pellet feed mill of 7 tons/ hour capacity. Our silos can store 8,000 tons of Feed in Luwero district. Our Feeds are formulated under the supervision of technical vets at our lab facility.
SR Afro Chicks & Breeders is looking for a highly qualified Feed Mill Technical Manager with a minimum of master’s degree in agriculture, animal science, poultry science or feed mill management to head the Milling Department.

Technical Feed Mill Manager
The Head of Feed Milling Department has the responsibility for production of poultry and fish feed with future plans for cattle feeds, feed formulation, oversight of feed milling operations and machine maintenance, and supply chain of the feed mill / warehousing of input products and finished goods.
Subject to successful management of the feed milling operations over a relevant time period the Head of Feed Milling Operations would be eligible to expand responsibilities also over other areas of the farming operations of the Company.
General Responsibilities:
· Review production records
· Keep inventory of feed ingredients and order as needed
· Test and review feed/grain quality
· Handle customer questions and complaints
· Set quality assurance standards
· Prepare and monitor monthly, quarterly and yearly budgets
· Stay up to date on new technology and ways to make process improvement
Academic and Professional Qualifications.
· Master’s Degree in Agriculture, animal nutrition and Biotechnology or feed technology from an internationally accredited University
· Certifications in relevant management topics are a bonus (veterinary science; health, safety and environment; human resources; production and process improvement etc.)
· At least 6years of experience in poultry feed formulation and production for GPS, PS and commercial broilers, and fish feed
· Emerging market experience preferably in Africa, alternatively in other markets with tropical climatic and business conditions
· Energetic and hands-on personality willing to work on a large farming estate
Key tasks and responsibilities
Feed production: The Technical Feed Manager and entire Milling Department is responsible for the production/processing of ca. 150 MT of poultry feed, full fat soya and concentrate per day. This includes interaction with production departments to define specific product demand, production planning, and assurance of product availability in a timely manner whilst always maintaining highest quality standards.
Feed Formulation: The qualifying candidate is responsible for the definition of new feed formulations, constant review of existing formulations, and interaction with the Company’s international knowledge partners to pilot new product innovations.
Feed mill operations and maintenance: The qualifying candidate as head of Feed Milling Department is responsible for all operations of the feed mill, including human resources (staff selection, staff development, precise job descriptions), processes (process mapping, standard operating procedures), and administration (record keeping, reporting etc.), as well as technical maintenance.
Supply Chain: As Head of Feed Milling Department, a qualifying candidate is responsible for definition of procurement needs and quality control of procured raw materials, warehousing and treatment of raw materials (particularly soy, maize, additives and packaging materials), and storage of finished products.
